About the Role
Under close supervision, performs basic building maintenance, graffiti removal, and custodial services in City buildings and grounds for the Building Services Department (BSD).
Responsibilities
- Performs basic building and grounds maintenance, graffiti removal, and custodial duties, including minor repairs and small parts replacements in City facilities; duties may vary according to job assignment and individual skills.
- Performs maintenance and repairs within scope of authority and in accordance with all safety regulations and BSD procedures; notifies supervisor of safety hazards, equipment problems, and emergency situations.
- Learns to perform a variety of repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Must maintain a cell phone for City use.
- Supports departmental operations with regular and timely attendance.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1 year of general labor experience, building maintenance, and/or general building construction.
- Knowledge of City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, and tools used in cleaning and maintaining buildings.
- Valid Texas State Driver’s License.
- Must pass an FBI criminal background fingerprint check in accordance with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) standards.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
Work is performed in City facilities; requires ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects. May be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment. City-approved safety shoes must be worn. Must be available for 24-hour call.
