Building Maintenance Technician 2nd shift

Building maintenance role within judicial facilities, covering single or multiple buildings. Responsibilities include operation, maintenance, repairs, minor alterations, emergency response, and maximizing predictive/preventive maintenance. Requires rotating shifts and on-call availability for emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Respond to calls from the Help Desk, Facility Manager, or Building Operator Lead Hand; prioritize and complete work in a timely manner.
• Refer major mechanical, technical, or customer-relations issues to the lead hand.
• Maintain service tools and equipment; arrange repairs or replacements as needed.
• Follow safe work practices and adhere to customer/contractor work standards.
• Complete reports and paperwork within required timelines.
• Lead in establishing safe work plans and follow safety guidelines.
• Plan and document maintenance/repair activities per contractual and guideline requirements.
• Manage customer relationships and ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain and repair the following systems:
  • Mechanical (plumbing, HVAC), electrical, and structural systems.
  • Monthly visual inspections and coordination of 3rd-party annual testing for fire dampers, fire system interfaces, and fans (toilet, kitchen, car park exhaust, specialist supply/return).
  • Low-level mechanical repairs to kitchen equipment (excluding specialized equipment like microwaves).
  • Low-level mechanical repairs/maintenance for cool rooms and fridges (excluding specialized requirements like re-gassing).
  • Low-level fire system works (e.g., isolation for works).
  • Low-level maintenance of data room systems (excluding proprietary manufacturer requirements).
  • Support for monthly generator maintenance and coordinate 3rd-party annual load testing (attendance and witnessing required).
  • Low-level BMS interaction (adjusting set points, printing reports, isolation).

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• 5th Class Power Engineering Ticket (preferred).
• 2+ years of building operation or stationary engineer experience.
• Experience with electrical, fire alarm, and mechanical systems (plumbing, piping, HVAC).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPIC clearance per client requirements.
• Flexibility to work rotational shifts (days, afternoons, evenings, weekends).
• BC trade qualification in mechanical or other building trades (electrical/plumbing preferred).
• Previous experience with automated systems.
• Mechanically inclined with aptitude for minor building and systems repairs.
• Strong knowledge of work protection codes and accident investigation.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Certification in aerial work platform equipment.
