About the role
The Building Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing a variety of building and grounds maintenance tasks within the facilities managed by the Leavenworth County Department of Building & Grounds. Tasks include building walk-through custodial, working on building work orders, household repairs, electrical repairs, HVAC repairs, concrete repairs, mowing and landscape, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Performing building walk-through custodial tasks
- Handling building work orders
- Conducting household repairs
- Carrying out electrical repairs
- Completing HVAC repairs
- Assisting with concrete repairs
- Mowing and landscape maintenance
- Creating and reviewing work plans for minor tasks
- Assessing and repairing minor HVAC breakdowns and tune-ups
- Assessing the scope of work for minor construction projects
Requirements
- Skilled to work independently and safely to perform standard tasks relating to building and grounds maintenance
- Skilled with using various hand and power tools
- Ability to move, repair, assemble and disassemble office furniture and equipment
- Knowledge of standard plumbing including free plugged waste lines, repairs and replacements to valves, faucets, sinks, toilets, water fountains and other water using devices
- Knowledge of standard electrical repairs and replacements to light fixtures, receptacles, and light switches
- Knowledge of standard building repairs such as replacement of door hardware and locks, spot carpet lying and repair, drywall replacement, patching and painting, landscape replacement and minor housekeeping such as sweeping
- Skilled in the assessment and repair of minor HVAC breakdowns and tune-ups
- Knowledge in concrete assessment and repair techniques
- Skilled in assessing the scope of work for minor construction projects
Qualifications
- Residency is defined as the place where ones primary residence is located. The boundaries for Leavenworth County employees incorporate adjacent counties to include: Wyandotte, Johnson, Douglas, Jefferson, and Atchison Counties in Kansas and Platte County, Missouri.
- Certain departments within the County may have more stringent requirements for residency such as the Sheriffs Department and Emergency Medical Services. Any exception to this residency requirement must be specifically approved by the BOCC.
