Building Maintenance Mechanic - Campus Facilities Management

Key Responsibilities
- Complete preventative maintenance on heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems including single room units up to complete building systems.
- Repair and maintain building accessories and equipment, such as tables, chairs, residential furniture, gas, and electrical appliances, etc.
- Repair and maintain plumbing systems for water softeners, restroom facilities, water coolers, etc.; open sewers/drains; replace faucets, etc.
- Complete preventative maintenance and help with testing on emergency and life safety equipment in all buildings (emergency lights, fire alarm systems, sprinkler lines, etc.).
- Locate parts and prepare requests for purchase of parts and equipment; provide input as to recommended equipment purchases for consistency in maintenance and repair.
- Help in the “room turn” process throughout the year when needed.
- Clean, maintain, safely operate, and properly store all tools and equipment.
- Observe and enforce all safety requirements related to equipment operation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Shift
Shift: 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent; demonstrated skills may offset requirements and a minimum of 4-years of actual experience in general building maintenance, including heating/air conditioning, electrical, water treatment, and plumbing, etc., is necessary.
- Knowledge and skill in the maintenance and use of tools, equipment, and materials used for general building maintenance.
- Manual dexterity and physical coordination.
- Ability to read blueprints, plans, drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical codes.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $24.00 to $25.00 hourly. Position is eligible for a $1,500.00 hiring incentive (see HR-104 Hiring Incentives for Faculty and Staff).
