Building Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Keswick is a not-for-profit aging services organization located in Baltimore, MD. We are seeking Building Engineers who can maintain the continuous operation of the boiler room and associated plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and monitors the boiler room and HVAC equipment per manufacturers' specifications, minimizing downtime and extending the life expectancy of the equipment.
  • Maintains equipment room logbooks and visually inspects equipment to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication.
  • Operates and monitors the emergency generator according to NFPA regulations, ensuring it is fueled and operational at all times.
  • Maintains water treatment systems and cooling towers, ensuring proper water treatment levels and operational status.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on boiler and other plant equipment, including cleaning and refractory patching or repair for state inspections.
  • Repairs equipment by interpreting schematics or equipment manuals, creating parts orders, and completing assigned work orders.
  • Completes assigned work orders, performs general maintenance repairs, and participates in snow/ice removal.
  • Complies with safety programs and procedures, supports during emergency disaster situations, and maintains a safe, neat, and productive work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • May be required to attend seminars/training classes to improve performance and ability.
  • Requires 3rd Grade Stationary Engineer License; 2nd Grade Stationary Engineer License preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Requires 3 years boiler experience as an operating engineer.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
