BUILDING INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT
About the Role
In the absence of the educator (teacher or paraprofessional), Building Instructional Support personnel are responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning. Assigned to a single school building (Middle School) for the duration of a school year, you will report to that school each day to cover assignments as scheduled by the building administrator(s). This includes covering for absent educators, preparation periods, or staying with a class while the educator attends meetings or in-service training. You may also perform routine clerical duties if assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction and manage the classroom in the absence of the regular educator
- Cover classes during educator absences, preparation periods, meetings, or in-service training
- Promote student learning and maintain a positive classroom environment
- Perform routine clerical duties as assigned
- Perform other related work as required
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of college education required (Bachelor’s Degree considered a plus)
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in assigned grade/subject by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (not required but considered a plus)
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults
- Outstanding oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.
Pay
$135.00 per day
