Building Facilities Technician

About the role

This position is responsible for performing skilled work in the maintenance of the City’s public buildings and parking garages, including electrical, street and park lighting, plumbing, and HVAC.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and three (3) years of experience in construction, building maintenance, and/or general repair work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special qualifications include a valid Virginia driver’s license, acceptable criminal background, DMV check and drug screen results.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in HVAC, electrical or related
• Knowledgeable of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems, with demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues
• Strong technical knowledge of system maintenance practices and procedures
