Building Engineer-Swing Shift - Salt Lake City, Utah

About the role

The Building Engineer supports the maintenance and operation of the building systems inside a client facility. Key responsibilities include performing complex preventive maintenance and corrective repairs, prioritizing tasks with the site FM, providing recommendations for process improvements, and managing inventory and supply procurement.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
• Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure proper operation.
• Stay informed about relevant codes, regulations, and directives related to building operations and safety.
• Oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors.
• Predict and perform assigned repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
• Review assigned work orders and estimate time and materials needed to complete repairs.
• Maintain an energy management program to ensure systems operate efficiently and minimize operating costs.
• Cultivate positive working relationships with clients and operations maintenance team members.
• Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 4 years of related experience and/or trade school training.
• Effective communication, presentation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
• Ability to move up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as stooping, standing, walking, and climbing stairs/ladders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of overhead doors and dock equipment operation.
• Low voltage access control systems.
