Building Engineer / Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician/Building Engineer to join our team in Menomonee Falls, managing a portfolio of commercial properties. In this key role, you will monitor properties, conduct regular walk-throughs, and oversee maintenance programs, preventative maintenance, and repairs for systems including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.

Responsibilities

• Monitor commercial properties and conduct regular walk-throughs.
• Organize, coordinate, and manage overall maintenance programs, preventative maintenance, and repairs for building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
• Ensure proper operation of building mechanical systems, including heat pumps with cooling towers and boilers, building automation systems, air handlers, electrical, plumbing, life safety, fire protection, and security systems.
• Identify and address any conditions that deviate from normal operations.
• Obtain bids, negotiate contracts, and assist with budget preparation.
• Maintain cost-effective inventory control and complete required reports.
• Respond to emergency calls as needed.
• Maintain effective communication with staff, owners, and/or board members regarding maintenance issues and projects.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously and provide recommendations to the team and ownership/board.

Requirements

• Advanced technical education or certifications relevant to facilities maintenance.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building operations, engineering, and equipment/systems maintenance.
• Working knowledge of building mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, fire protection, and security systems).
• Ability to work independently with direction from the Commercial Property Manager.
• Strong customer service, communication, follow-through, and detail orientation.
• Proficiency in computer skills.
