About the role

Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues with minimal supervision. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Maintain inventory, requisition parts, and communicate daily activities across shifts using approved systems.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machinery
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment
  • Carry and safely use hand and power tools
  • Perform highly complex repairs on physical property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, and pool heaters while adhering to company standards and local/national codes
  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, plumbing (toilets, drains), electrical equipment (lamps, switches, outlets, extension cords, TVs, internet devices), air conditioners, and HVAC systems
  • Use Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work
  • Operate and troubleshoot engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems
  • Train and mentor other engineers as needed
  • Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds
  • Follow all company safety and security policies; report hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; store flammable materials properly
  • Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Welcome and assist guests, anticipate service needs, and address concerns according to company standards
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members
  • Lift, move, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds independently and heavier objects with assistance
  • Navigate stairs, ramps, ladders, and perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • Use computers to access and input work-related information
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested

Requirements

  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification
  • Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background
  • Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, parts inventory, and requisition
  • At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
  • Valid Driver’s License

Skills

  • Advanced ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics (plumbing and HVAC)
  • Above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability
  • Proficiency in at least three of the following categories, above-average skills in three more, and basic skills in the remaining: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, general building management
  • Clear and professional communication
