Building Engineer-HVAC - Newark, DE

CBRE is seeking a skilled Building Engineer with strong HVAC troubleshooting and diagnostic experience to support a premier financial institution campus consisting of seven commercial buildings. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC equipment and building systems, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and responding to service requests to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to HVAC/mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
• Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
• Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
• Maintain an energy management program to ensure all systems operate efficiently.
• Assist with the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to extend the life of building machinery and systems.
• Perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
• Review inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure equipment operates within design capabilities.
• Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
• Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of your job discipline while maintaining broad knowledge of several disciplines.
• Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Universal CFC certification is preferred. Additional certifications/licenses as required by local or state jurisdictions.
• Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Meet physical requirements including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting/carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• Ability to exercise judgment based on analysis of multiple sources of information.
• Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Strong organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
• Sophisticated math skills, including calculating percentages, fractions, and financial-related figures.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Schedule

• Regular schedule: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
• Rotating shift: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM approximately once every eight weeks.
