Building Division Director

Essential Duties

• Manages the daily operations and activities of the Building Division.
• Reviews and conducts inspections to ensure buildings and structures comply with applicable codes.
• Interprets and recommends code amendments to reflect industry trends and address emerging issues.
• Coordinates with other divisions and departments on resident concerns, building, development, and special projects.
• Attends meetings and presents to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manages, reviews, and processes data and information; prepares and reviews reports, statements, and communications.
• Coordinates complaint case investigations from various stakeholders.
• Leads special projects such as technology enhancements and developing standard operating procedures and training materials.
• Maintains Division performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness, responsiveness, and customer service outcomes.
• Manages recruitment, training, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations of Division staff.
• Promotes a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.

Grade and Eligibility

The grade for this position is 303. This position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Public Speaking Duties

Presenting to Board of Construction Adjustments and Appeals

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field AND Nine years of progressively responsible experience in architecture, construction project management, plan review, or inspections, to include three years of supervisory experience.
• A thorough understanding of building and construction codes.

Preferred Qualifications

• In addition to the above minimum qualifications, five (5) years supervisory experience.
• Experience leading a building construction project from inception to completion.
