Duties Description

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Cookordinate the activities of the regional staff in the assigned area.
  • Consultant construction management firm and consultant design firm to ensure quality control of each individual project component of the Agency’s program.
  • Supervise and manage EIC’s and inspectors on multiple construction projects.
  • Confer with construction supervisors, consultants, and D&C management regarding the progress of assigned projects and construction issues and/or problems that exist.
  • Identify potential problem areas with scheduling, change orders, and other construction completion problems to maintain program schedules.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties to include workload management, performance management, enforcement of OGS and D&C Policies and Procedures, mentorship and leadership to staff in the unit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Operational Needs

Travel is required throughout the area, in excess of 50%. Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Required Experience: Nine years of experience in multi-trade building construction, which must have included at least two years of managing multiple building construction projects. Experience managing multi-trade building construction projects shall include responsibility for three or more of the following areas: construction planning, coordination of multiple trades, cost estimating, project scheduling, material purchasing, resource management (including labor, material, and equipment scheduling), contract document reading and interpretation (plans and specifications). Two years must include supervision of subordinate staff.
  • Substitution: An associate's degree may substitute for two years of experience. A bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience. A master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience. A doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.

This position does not allow telecommuting.

Non-Competitive Promotion

If there are no more than three qualified candidates in the promotion field for this position, the agency will request approval from the Department of Civil Service to fill this position via a non-competitive promotion (NCP) examination, pursuant to Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law.
