BUILDING CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR 3 – Las Vegas, NV

About The Position

The County of Riverside is searching for Communications Technical Support candidates experienced in installing and maintaining telephone and data communications equipment, coordinating system and component upgrades, and providing technical support and assistance to customers. The positions are day-shift, and work throughout the County of Riverside.

Examples Of Essential Duties

• Installing, modifying, testing and repairing telephone service on digital switches, terminal adapter units, and other telephony and data communications equipment.
• Pulling voice and data cables.
• Performing preventative maintenance.
• Truss and repair malfunction of equipment and devices.
• Working on mission critical systems, on a rotating standby duty schedule.

Required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of five years in the communications field, including three years installing and maintaining telephone equipment and/or telecommunication CAT5 or CAT 6 wiring.
• Two years with telephone key systems and two years with PBX systems, greater than 500 lines.

Additional Requirements

• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, climb and work on 12’ ladders, climb stairs while carrying equipment, and perform physical activities associated with the installation of telecommunications wiring and equipment.

Competencies

• The ability to take primary responsibility for maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Analyze and define malfunctions.
• Familiarity with wiring codes and standards for both copper and fiber optic cable.
• Knowledge of ancillary equipment interfacing with Ericsson PBX (such as Auto Attendant’s, Automated Call Distribution, Voice Mail Systems and Call Center Managers).
• Knowledge of basic electricity and battery plants.
• Familiarity with ANSI EIA/TIA standards and BICSI installation practices.
• Familiarity with NEC codes.
