Building Attendant - Hospital (1199 CPH)

Summary

Maintain sanitary and attractive surroundings, provide excellent customer service, and comply with safety and regulatory guidelines, including OSHA and MSDS practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and maintenance of patient rooms, operating rooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas; handle trash and waste disposal in compliance with standards.
• Maintain floors and carpets through stripping, waxing, and shampooing; ensure walkways are safe and accessible.
• Provide responsive assistance to patients, visitors, and staff, maintaining a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction.
• Adhere to OSHA and MSDS safety practices while working collaboratively to achieve departmental goals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months industrial/institutional cleaning experience.
• Union affiliation: 1199 SEIU (CPH) Service, Maintenance & Clerical.

Physical Requirements

Heavy physical work includes lifting up to 100 lb., climbing ladders, crawling into tight spaces, and working on uneven, slippery, or elevated surfaces. Employees must demonstrate strong motor coordination, balance, and spatial awareness, as well as high visual and auditory alertness. The role involves moderate emotional demands focused on hazard recognition and task accuracy, and exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, loud noise, and mechanical hazards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and periodic physical examinations are required. Accommodations will be considered for any physical limitations.

Pay

Pay Range: $18.46 – $26.24 (base pay for a full‑time applicant; actual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, location, and contracts).

Schedule

Evenings, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, including every other weekend.
