About the role
The University of North Texas has been an innovator in preparing educators since being established in 1890 as a teacher’s college. The college offers 9 bachelor’s degrees, 18 master’s and 14 doctoral concentrations that provide the training and field experience needed to teach people how to live more productive lives.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the central HR contact for all departments in the College of Education, meet with administrative personnel to administer budget training, assist with payroll questions, answer questions regarding budget and financial information and processes.
- Completes budget, finance and payroll documents.
- Affords knowledge of university fiscal, academic, and employment policies and procedures to advise faculty, administrators, staff, and students on budget, finance, payroll, and position-related matters.
- Reviews budget, position, and payroll entries to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with institutional guidelines.
- Makes regular visits with department administrative staff to provide financial reports, budget updates, training, and process guidance related to budget, finance, payroll, and personnel actions.
- Processes budget, finance, payroll, and personnel-related transactions, including ePARs, ABAs, IDTs, journals, funding documents, and search-related forms for faculty, graduate students, adjuncts, and other employees.
- Manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, responds effectively to changing needs, identifies opportunities for process improvement, serves as a liaison between the dean’s office and departmental staff, and completes special projects and assignments as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting, finance, business or related field and two years of progressively responsible financial administration or budget management experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of budgetary principles, practices and procedures.
- Ability to prepare concise reports and to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Knowledge of enterprise information systems.
- Ability to process budget transactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, finance, accounting, higher education administration, or a related field.
- Experience managing budgets, payroll, and personnel transactions in a higher education or similarly complex organizational environment.
- Strong proficiency with financial systems, HR/payroll systems, and reporting tools, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
Skills
