About the role
The Department of Justice and the United States Attorneys' Offices provide legal representation and support to the federal government. As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement.
Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive financial management program that involves both short and long-range programmatic plans and annual budget.
- Preparing annual administrative budgets and budget estimates.
- Advising management on the planning and development of budget requirements.
- Managing the certifications of obligations of goods and services.
- Overseeing the processing of travel authorizations and travel vouchers/claims.
- Reviews invoices for proper payment eligibility and issues payments within proper timeframes.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Your initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing.
- Your continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
- GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service.
- Specialized experience is defined as experience developing, implementing and/or maintaining a comprehensive financial management system; developing a financial planning and reporting system that involves long-range planning and the annual budget; providing financial and managerial data to control budget execution in achieving short and long-range management plans; advising management team on recommendations and/or alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, costs of operations and program accomplishments; reviewing and analyzing past obligations, determining reasonable fund levels and evaluating validity of request; and providing a wide variety of budget reporting, including monthly financial and quarterly reports.
