About the role

The incumbent serves as a Reader Registration Assistant on the Reader Registration Team of the Access Services Section in the Researcher Engagement and General Collections Division. All researchers conducting research at the Library of Congress must first obtain a Library-issued Reader Card at the Reader Registration Stations. The incumbent performs the full range of duties necessary to operate the Stations and to assist researchers.

Responsibilities

• Process applications for Library of Congress Reader Identification Cards.
• Verify researcher identity and eligibility in accordance with Library policies.
• Explain Library rules, procedures, and services to new and returning researchers.
• Maintain accurate records of registrations and issue temporary or permanent cards.
• Assist with troubleshooting technical issues at the registration stations.
• Coordinate with security and reference staff to ensure smooth researcher access.
