About the role

This position involves performing a full range of budgetary duties associated with planning, programming, budgeting, and execution of assigned programs. It also includes providing authoritative and accurate guidance, assistance, analysis, evaluation, interpretation, and support on all financial management to organizational leaders, supervisors, and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and consolidates budget estimates or financial plans for programs.
• Conducts analyses to identify funding trends and anticipate funding needs.
• Uses automated financial systems or computer-generated products to accomplish budgeting assignments.
• Makes projections and tracks obligations and expenditures within the organization throughout the execution phase of the annual operating budget.
• Verifies and ensures requirements included in budgets are consistent with the organization's mission and requirements.
• Analyzes and summarizes historical data to identify trends and assess funding requirements.
• Prepares data summaries for inclusion in routine and special reports on budget execution.

Requirements

• Conditions of employment: Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Appointment to this position is subject to a probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• Qualifications: The position requires a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., in a field demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing and consolidating budget estimates or financial plans for programs; conducting analyses to identify funding trends and anticipate funding needs; and using automated financial system(s) or computer-generated products to accomplish budgeting assignments.
• Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
• Combination of education and experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
