Budget Analyst
About the role
The UAF Office of Finance and Accounting (OFA) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Budget Analyst. The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles and knowledge of rules and regulations associated with fiscal activities and compliance requirements. This position requires strong analytical, research and problem solving skills, along with good written and oral communication, self-directing skills, and ability to organize and prioritize a diversified workload. The ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus from staff in other departments is vital to this position, along with the ability to synthesize information into comprehensive reports and to formulate unique and creative solutions for problems, using your expert knowledge of data analysis support tools including Excel.
Responsibilities
- Dive into UAF’s financial systems, reviewing data, validating entries, and ensuring fiscal reports are accurate, timely, and ready to support decision-makers across campus.
- Develop and refine a variety of fiscal reports, collaborating with colleagues and providing technical guidance to financial managers.
- Support financial managers by granting or troubleshooting system access, offering training, and stepping in to support units during busy periods.
- Provide expert-level assistance and training to financial managers across campus, fostering a service-minded approach that strengthens financial operations.
Requirements
- Four years of progressively responsible professional fiscal experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is required.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required, or an equivalent combination of training and experience in budget and accounting.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Self-directing skills and ability to organize and prioritize a diversified workload.
