Budget Analyst

Position Summary The Budget Analyst supports the development, monitoring, and administration of the City’s annual operating and capital budgets. This position performs financial research and analysis, prepares reports, manages budget data within the MUNIS system, and collaborates with departments to ensure accurate budget planning and compliance with City policies and procedures. Examples of Duties Key Duties & Responsibilities Assist with preparation and coordination of the City’s annual operating and capital budgetsAnalyze budget requests, expenditures, and revenue forecasts to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial goalsConduct ongoing financial monitoring and variance analysis, identifying trends and recommending corrective actionsProvide technical support to departments on budget guidelines, procedures, and financial reportingPrepare budget reports, presentations, and data dashboards for leadership, departments, and City CommissionMaintain and update budget information in MUNIS financial system, ensuring integrity and accuracy of financial dataAssist with development of budget policies, internal controls, and process improvementsParticipate in year-end closing, forecasting, and mid-year budget review processesConduct research and financial modeling to support policy and operational decision-makingPerform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related fieldMinimum 2–3 years of experience in governmental or municipal budgetingExperience with financial systems; MUNIS experience strongly preferredAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling, charts) Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license with satisfactory driving record held throughout employment.
