Budget Analyst

About the Role

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is seeking a Budget Analyst to join our team. Responsibilities

• Perform professional budget analysis duties as outlined in the Duty Statement
• Support the department's financial planning and resource management operations

Requirements

• Current employment in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (attach your letter if available)
• Possession of Minimum Qualifications as specified in the Analyst I classification specifications (verified prior to interview and/or appointment)
• If meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, include unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification (official transcripts may be required upon appointment)

Pay

• Range A: $3,861.00 - $4,839.00
• Range B: $4,181.00 - $5,233.00
• Range C: $5,014.00 - $6,276.00
• New to State candidates hired into minimum salary of classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable

Note: In July 2025, the State implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, temporarily reducing monthly base pay by 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown do not reflect this reduction.
