About the role

Currently seeking a School Aide for Brooklyn Blue Feather in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn (2335 Gerritsen Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11229).

Schedule

• Part Time/Per-Diem
• Monday-Friday, 8:45 A.M - 2:45 P.M
• 10 month program with 30 day summer session

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Teacher/Behavior Trainer, follow the daily activity schedule/lesson plans and support and guide the implementation of a student’s objectives as indicated in his/her IEP.
• Provide direct care services to student as needed, including toileting, dressing and feeding, in an instructional manner so as to provide the basis of future independent student action.
• Participate in the arrival and dismissal of student as needed.
• Participate in activities outside the classroom when necessary (e.g. playground, field trips, gym etc.); interact with the student; and address the student’s safety and physical needs.
• Understand the nature of the student’s disability and its impact on the student’s performance; be familiar with the student’s IEP objectives including the educational purpose and methodology; be familiar with the student’s medical alerts and EPOP (Enhanced Protective Oversight Plan).

Requirements

• Candidates with experience working with students with disabilities are preferred.
• High School Diploma required.

Pay

$19.50-$20.00/hr
