About the role

The Brookline, MA Police Department is seeking a full-time police officer via lateral transfer. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Completed a full-time MPTC approved police academy
  • POST certified
  • Currently employed as a full-time police officer in Massachusetts
  • In good standing with their current department
  • Eligible for a lateral transfer from their current department
  • At least one year’s experience as a full-time police officer

Responsibilities

Officers must be proactive, community policing oriented, and demonstrate proven reliability and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Reside in the Town of Brookline
  • Be in good physical condition
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Pass a polygraph test

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a valid Massachusetts driver's license and possess a valid Massachusetts firearm permit.

Skills

Knowledge of Massachusetts laws and regulations, ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in computer systems are essential.

Pay

The salary range for patrol officers is $83,159 - $133,463*, as of 7/1/26, (education dependent).

Schedule

Officers will work a rotating schedule that includes day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
