Broker Director
About the role
AIG is reimagining how we help customers manage risk, transforming our operating model, and reshaping role responsibilities and career pathways. As a Broker Director, you will directly manage relationships with a select set of five or fewer retail brokers, collaborating closely with national teams and broker counterparts to drive engagement and insights that yield outpaced growth.
Reporting to the Broker & Market Leader, you will be a key part of a national team assigned to focus brokers, working to promote profitable growth, derive value from broker services, and align local execution with national commitments.
Responsibilities
- Drive financial results and manage assigned retail brokers within a market, setting clear goals to promote profitable growth, retention, and an expanded mix of business.
- Ensure AIG derives insights, value, and results from consulting or data services purchased from retail brokers.
- Support AIG’s efforts to execute goals locally consistent with national commitments to/from retail brokers.
- Leverage AIG platforms such as 360 and Salesforce to apply KPIs and measure success.
- Develop and facilitate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Distribution and Business Unit leaders, to establish a comprehensive grasp of the portfolio, opportunities, and target accounts.
- Coordinate with the AIG International team to align and manage applicable global business plans.
- Own the broker performance scorecard, contribute to monthly and quarterly measurement reviews, and articulate the health of broker relationships using data to the NA Leadership Team.
- Travel regularly to broker offices within your market (cadence determined with leadership based on relationship health).
- Conduct regular meetings with broker partners and Distribution leadership to review results and adjust strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with AIG Product teams to develop execution strategies for growth products, including KPIs to support them.
- Ensure absolute alignment with broker agreements and strategy.
- Drive a growth culture with assigned brokers, focusing on areas of growth and retention by Product.
- Work with Distribution Analytics to:
- Develop market and product-level target account initiatives and relationship expansion.
- Drive pipelining initiatives at the local level for assigned brokers.
- Ensure monthly results and KPI reporting are distributed to appropriate constituents and use data to drive opportunities for alignment and profitable growth/retention strategies.
- Oversee and manage a total Gross Premium Written (GPW) of $200M across assigned brokers.
Requirements
- Strong sales background, negotiation skills, and presentation skills.
- Passion for innovating and leading change.
- Strong business acumen, process and project management skills, and data orientation.
- Ability to professionally and tactfully manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Relevant technical grounding and ability to understand and articulate product strategies and differentiators.
- 10 years’ experience in broker and/or carrier relationship management, underwriting, or commercial insurance broking is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated adaptability and a commitment to AIG’s learn-it-all culture.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with senior leadership within AIG and dedicated broker relationships.
- Mobility and willingness to travel to U.S. locations (20-30%).
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $115,000–$145,000, and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
