Broadcasting Internship (NYSBA)

About the role

FOX44/WFFF-TV & ABC22/WVNY-TV in Colchester, Vermont offer a fall paid internship through the New York State Broadcasters Association (NYSBA). Interns gain hands‑on experience in the news department, working closely with producers, anchors, and reporters both in‑house and in the field.

Responsibilities

• Research and write news stories
• Contact sources for additional information when needed
• Learn how camera equipment works and which camera shots matter
• Understand how reporters gather information to differentiate live shots
• Function as a field producer: coordinate interviews and attend press conferences
• Shadow producers in the control room and eventually produce a portion of the show
• Assist with directing and producing opportunities
• Help craft an on‑air reel for those interested in on‑air opportunities
• Abide by all safety rules and procedures of the company
• Exert best efforts in receiving training and cooperate with and follow instructions of company employees
• Maintain strict confidentiality of company information, customer data, and trade secrets

Requirements

• At least 17 years of age
• Resident of New York State and/or attend a school in New York State

Pay

$15.50 per hour

Schedule

Fall semester (on/about September 21 – December 31), 2‑4 days per week, not to exceed 180 hours total.
