Responsibilities
- Operate Master Control, audio, editing, signal acquisition, ENG microwave communication, SNG communications, cameras, utility, prompter, and Direct/TD for assigned newscasts, live segments, and live-to-tape segments.
- Perform duties in a fast-paced news environment, working well under pressure and maintaining a solution-oriented approach.
- Interact positively with technical and non-technical staff both independently and as part of a team.
- Operate Master Control and automation, production audio, editing, drones, field camera equipment, and report.
- Direct/TD newscasts and operate automated cameras, CG graphics, and Premiere editing.
- Utilize expert knowledge of Ross OverDrive automation or equivalent systems.
- Work with Newsroom Automation Systems such as ENPS.
- Coordinate with the News department on live-shot needs and scout locations for optimal signal strength, safety, and shot composition.
- Operate video and audio switchers, recorders, microwave equipment, monitors, test equipment, tools, and all Electronic News Gathering (ENG) equipment, including IP and cellular devices.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-4 years of Broadcast Engineering experience with live news or talk shows.
- Understanding of live newscast production.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Good driving record and a valid state driver’s license.
- Ability to work various hours and shifts.
- Ability to lift, run, and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, including cable reels, television monitors, and camera tripods.
- Ability to climb 10-15 foot ladders and work on rooftops or in the field under pressure.
- Capability to operate a full-sized television remote live van, including raising a fifty-foot telescoping mast and avoiding obstructions such as power lines.
- Vision corrected to 20/20 with no impairments; excellent depth perception required for driving an ENG/SNG van.
- Ability to move swiftly at breaking news locations, climb several flights of stairs carrying heavy equipment, and work in various physical positions (e.g., kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching overhead).
- Ability to work outside and on the roof of an ENG truck in all types of weather.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced news environment.
