Bridge Inspection Project Manager/Team Leader
About the role
This opportunity is for a Bridge Inspection Project Manager/Team Leader in the Mountain/Pacific Northwest Region Bridge Inspection Group. The position is based in Denver with flexibility to work from offices in Utah, Arizona, Idaho, or Montana. Responsibilities include leading structural inspections, managing projects, and developing business.
Responsibilities
- Lead structural inspections and bridge/tunnel inspections/reporting according to NBIS/NTIS standards and client guidance.
- Prepare and oversee project budgets, monitor external events, track hours and expenses, and ensure satisfactory performance.
- Manage and supervise subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
- Pursue and develop bridge inspection business for current and potential clients.
- Support the long-term strategy and pipeline development of Bridge Inspection work for WSP in the Mountain/Pacific Northwest Region.
- Provide verbal and written inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to strategic advice to clients.
- Develop and manage projects in compliance with applicable codes and regulations, and adhere to engineering practices.
- Interpret and summarize data, and provide critical problem-solving inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
- Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Professional Engineering Licensure with 10+ years of experience in bridge inspection (NBIS) with transportation clients.
- Bridge Inspection Project Manager/Team Leader with experience in successful management of bridge inspection projects.
- NBIS Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader with up-to-date certifications.
- NHI/FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges/Nonredundant Steel Tension Steel Members Certificate (130078).
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
- Physically capable of performing continuous field work, including working at heights and in close quarters, climbing, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to think critically and solve problems.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented structure.
- Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
- Ability to supervise, train, and direct the work of team members.
- Cognizant of time and budget management.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- NTIS Certified Tunnel Inspection Team Leader with up-to-date certifications.
- Additional FHWA/NHI/OSHA Training: 130087 Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures, 135086 Plan of Action for Scour Critical Bridges, 135047 Stream Stability and Scour at Highway Bridges for Bridge Inspectors, OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Training.
- Experience with the inspection of railroad and complex bridges, tunnels and ancillary structures.
- Familiarity with or certifications in various NDT techniques and UAS applications.
- Familiarity with rope access techniques and/or UAS operations.

Pay
Expected Salary (all locations): $120,000 - $187,000
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $135,000 - $200,000
