About the role

This opportunity is for a Bridge Inspection Project Manager/Team Leader in WSP's Mountain/Pacific Northwest Region Bridge Inspection Group. The position is based in Denver with flexibility to work from offices in Utah, Arizona, Idaho, or Montana. Key responsibilities include leading structural inspections, managing projects, and developing business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural inspections and bridge/tunnel inspections/reporting according to NBIS/NTIS standards and client guidance.
  • Utilize various asset management software for inspection reports and prioritize maintenance/rehabilitation/replacement/load rating updates.
  • Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the bridge inspection discipline, manage project budgets, and supervise subcontractors and employees.
  • Pursue and develop bridge inspection business, execute work for clients, and support long-term strategy and pipeline development.
  • Support proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgetary metrics, and maintain compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Interpret and summarize data, provide expert advice, and communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Mentor staff and manage performance, and develop a client base for bridge inspection services.
  • Manage projects in compliance with engineering practices and company policies, and exercise ethical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering Licensure with 10+ years of experience in bridge inspection (NBIS) with transportation clients.
  • Bridge Inspection Project Manager/Team Leader with experience in successful management of bridge inspection projects.
  • NBIS Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader with up-to-date certifications.
  • NTHI/FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges/Nonredundant Steel Tension Steel Members Certificate (130078).
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license and physical capability for continuous field work.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adhering to WSP's policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NTIS Certified Tunnel Inspection Team Leader with up-to-date certifications.
  • Additional FHWA/NHI/OSHA Training: 130087 Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures, 135086 Plan of Action for Scour Critical Bridges, 135047 Stream Stability and Scour at Highway Bridges for Bridge Inspectors, OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Training.
  • Experience with the inspection of railroad and complex bridges, tunnels, and ancillary structures.
  • Familiarity with or certifications in various NDT techniques and UAS applications.
  • Familiarity with rope access techniques and/or UAS operations.

Schedule

Full-time position with flexibility to work from multiple offices.

Skills

Proven experience in bridge inspection, strong leadership and project management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in asset management software, and familiarity with various NDT techniques and UAS applications.
