Bridge Engineer
About the role
Stantec is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our growing Atlanta, GA design team. This position offers opportunities to contribute to innovative bridge designs and enhance community safety, cleanliness, and resilience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare structural design calculations, plans, and contract documents in accordance with applicable design and agency standards.
- Develop plan submissions for various transportation projects, including bridges and other structures.
- Perform structural analysis of new designs and existing structures.
- Lead and review conceptual design alternatives to develop cost-effective solutions.
- Lead and review preliminary and final design and plans, including load ratings.
- Potentially perform inspections of bridges and prepare inspection reports.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years structural engineering experience on bridges and other transportation structures.
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Georgia or South Carolina or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications.
- Experience with GDOT or SCDOT design criteria and requirements.
- Experience in developing plans using Bentley MicroStation.
- Experience with AASHTOWare BrR for bridge load rating.
- Understanding of national and state bridge inspection methods, evaluations, and report preparation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with bridge design/analysis software.
