About the role

Jacobs is looking for a talented Bridge Engineer to join our Northwest Bridge Team in the Boise, Idaho or Spokane, Washington areas. You’ll work on a wide variety of transportation projects, including highway and railroad projects in rural, urban, and National Park settings, as well as alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build (DB), Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC), Construction Manager At Risk (CMAR), and Public-Private-Partnership (P3) projects.

You’ll provide technical expertise in transportation structure design and construction, from conceptual and preliminary design to final design and construction, while working within multi-disciplinary teams. Opportunities include structural calculations, drawings, specifications, field inspections, cost estimates, and reports. You’ll also mentor junior engineers and CAD staff, coordinate design activities with subcontractors, and assist in business development and proposal efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Design transportation structures and bridges, including precast and post-tensioned concrete girder bridges, steel girder bridges, bridge widenings, and rehabilitations.
  • Prepare construction drawings and specifications.
  • Apply technical standards for bridge design, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance (AASHTO LRFD, AREMA, and state-specific guidelines).
  • Use software packages such as LEAP Bridge, PGSuper, MDX, spColumn, LPile, BrR, BRASS, Midas, CSi Bridge, Larsa, and SAP2000.
  • Produce technical memorandums and reports.
  • Develop project quantities and cost estimates.
  • Manage multiple tasks and small projects independently.
  • Mentor junior engineers and CAD staff.
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between Jacobs staff and subcontractors.
  • Assist in business development activities and proposal efforts.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8-15 years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer in the design of transportation structures and/or bridges.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited university or college.
  • Professional Engineer License (Idaho license preferred).
  • Experience with multiple structure types, including precast and post-tensioned concrete girder bridges, steel girder bridges, bridge widenings, and bridge rehabilitations.
  • Familiarity with ProjectWise and MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of FHWA requirements and guidelines.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $102,900.00 to $165,000.00. Individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
