About the role

A bridge crewmember in the United States Army is responsible for constructing and maintaining crucial bridge systems that facilitate the movement of troops, vehicles, and supplies across water obstacles and challenging terrain.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and disassemble portable bridges, such as Bailey bridges and pontoon bridges, using specialized tools and equipment.
  • Work in teams to build efficient and safe bridge structures under tight deadlines and in diverse environments.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of existing bridges to ensure their structural integrity and readiness for use.
  • Perform reconnaissance missions to assess potential bridge sites and determine the best locations for deployment.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous construction or engineering experience is preferred but not required.
