About the role

A bridge crewmember in the United States Army is responsible for constructing and maintaining crucial bridge systems that facilitate the movement of troops, vehicles, and supplies across water obstacles and challenging terrain.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and disassemble portable bridges, such as Bailey and pontoon bridges, using specialized tools and equipment.
  • Work in teams to build efficient and safe bridge structures under tight deadlines and in diverse environments.
  • Inspect and maintain existing bridges to ensure their structural integrity and readiness for use.
  • Perform reconnaissance missions to assess potential bridge sites and determine the best locations for deployment.
