Breeder Technician

Responsibilities

• Work with and solve grower problems; establish a good working relationship between producers and the Company.
• Provide current science as directed by the Company to maximize farm production.
• Advisers producers regarding building and equipment specifications.
• Advisers producers on litter manipulation and farm sanitation.
• Routinely visit farms (frequent travel).
• Document bird comfort, flock management, and equipment settings.
• Direct light and feed schedules.
• Monitor: bird health, egg production, body weight, conformation, monitor feed consumption.
• Pulling blood and fat samples promptly.
• Coordinate bird placements to the farms and help with catch schedules, ensuring effective communication between Hatchery, Feedmill, vaccination crews, and Livehaul as it pertains to contract.
• Ensure the producer and company comply with the production contract to produce flocks of the highest quality and lowest cost, ensuring good performance.
• Ensure USDA and other government regulations are effectively followed when handling poultry.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• College (minimum 2 years), prefer bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science or a similar field, or commensurate field experience.
• Ability to work proactively, unsupervised, and be self-motivated.
• Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
• Basic math functions and skills.

Physical Requirements

• Work in an outside environment (including inclement weather) daily.
• Ability to climb a ladder to a height of 25 ft.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to stoop and squat repetitively.
• Workaround raw, live animal odors.
• Work in a noisy environment (>85 decibels) and around moving equipment.
