Responsibilities
- Work with and solve grower problems; establish a good working relationship between producers and the Company.
- Provide current science as directed by the Company to maximize farm production.
- Advisers producers regarding building and equipment specifications.
- Advisers producers on litter manipulation and farm sanitation.
- Routinely visit farms (frequent travel).
- Document bird comfort, flock management, and equipment settings.
- Direct light and feed schedules.
- Monitor: bird health, egg production, body weight, conformation, monitor feed consumption.
- Pulling blood and fat samples promptly.
- Coordinate bird placements to the farms and help with catch schedules, ensuring effective communication between Hatchery, Feedmill, vaccination crews, and Livehaul as it pertains to contract.
- Ensure the producer and company comply with the production contract to produce flocks of the highest quality and lowest cost, ensuring good performance.
- Ensure USDA and other government regulations are effectively followed when handling poultry.
Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- College (minimum 2 years), prefer bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science or a similar field, or commensurate field experience.
- Ability to work proactively, unsupervised, and be self-motivated.
- Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
- Basic math functions and skills.
Physical Requirements
- Work in an outside environment (including inclement weather) daily.
- Ability to climb a ladder to a height of 25 ft.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to stoop and squat repetitively.
- Workaround raw, live animal odors.
- Work in a noisy environment (>85 decibels) and around moving equipment.
