BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR (PART-TIME)

Responsibilities

• Assist with the management of the breastfeeding pump loan program.
• Establish relationships and maintain regular contact with prenatal and breastfeeding women who are enrolled in the program.
• Provide support and information to women who are enrolled in the breastfeeding program.
• Issue breastfeeding supplies to those enrolled in the program.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalency.
• Must have breastfed previously or currently.
• Complete the state approved Breastfeeding Peer Counselor training course.
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of the social, economic, environmental condition of clients served.
• Knowledge of the community and available resources.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to learn counseling techniques and communication skills.

Special Requirements

• This position requires the ability to work during natural disaster events like hurricanes or snow storms.
• Willingness to accept these working conditions.
