Responsibilities
- Have on-going contact with pregnant and breastfeeding participants in the clinics, on the telephone and by mail.
- Educate clients on basic breastfeeding concepts.
- Follows up with clients and offer support, over telephone and in-person.
- Offer Information To The Participants Concerning:
- Position and latch-on
- Normal infant feeding
- How to tell if baby is getting enough
- How to return to work/school
- How to use a breast pump
- How to wean a baby from breast feeding
- Make referrals to the lactation consultant or other health care professional when needed.
- Complete appropriate documentation on all participants.
- Aid with group classes, conduct breastfeeding support meetings.
- Serve as a breastfeeding resource person to WIC staff.
- Maintain equipment and supplies necessary for the job.
- Aid with clinic and health fair displays.
- Perform related duties as required.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- A Valid Driver's License
- WIC knowledge, or have one time been a WIC participant with knowledge and understanding of program is strongly preferred.

- Must be willing to successfully complete 20 hours of State approved training after hire.
