Responsibilities
- Operates Breast MRI equipment to produce high-quality images in accordance with physician orders and safety procedures.
- Verifies patient requests and addresses any questionable orders with the Radiologist.
- Completes required paperwork and authorizations in a timely manner.
- Correlates test results with patient history and lab data.
- Monitors and ensures MRI safety and contrast dosing.
- Provides explanations and reassures patients about the safety and process of the exam.
- Assists in biopsy procedures and performs intravenous injections of GBCA agents.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
- Effectively communicates with Radiologist and PACS/IT for imaging distribution.
- Communicates with Radiologist for protocols and alterations to tests.
- Reports malfunctioning equipment to the Radiology engineer.
Requirements
- Junior College/Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology
- ARRT certification (MRI if regulatory changes)
- 1-3 years of Radiology, MRI experience
- Breast imaging experience preferred
- Computer literacy and knowledge of CR programs
- Up-to-date with local and federal regulations
- Ability to identify patient allergies and communicate with Radiologist or referring MD
- Positive communication skills and excellent customer service
- Competent to perform IVs and assist in MRI guided biopsy procedures
- Flexibility with shift hours and days
- Physical requirements: primarily walking and sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs
Qualifications
- Education/Licensing/Certification: Junior College/Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology, ARRT (MRI if determined by regulation changes)
- Experience: 1-3 years of Radiology, MRI experience, Breast imaging experience preferred
- Knowledge and Skills: Operates MRI scanners, IV contrast injectors, O2 tanks, computer literate, communicates with Radiologist or referring MD, reports equipment malfunctions, lifts up to 50 lbs, communicates effectively, provides patient care, reports patient conditions, performs IVs, flexible with shift hours and days
