About the role
The Bread Expeditor 1 is the link between Bread Production and Delivery. This position safely, accurately, and efficiently pulls and expedites all phases of wholesale bread orders. The Bread Expeditor 1 is the first of three Bread Expeditor levels.
Responsibilities
- Differentiate between and describe products
- Pull orders, slice, and package all products in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner
- Maintain accurate counts of products
- Understand and use all equipment in Expediting
- Operate bread and bun slicers efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Meet quality and pace expectations as per training requirements
- Keep delivery and expediting areas clean and orderly
- Follow HACCP training and maintain records and food safety goals
- Perform quality control of product, cull unusable loaves, and record the loss to the Expeditor Coordinator
- Communicate critical information to the Expeditor Coordinator or Manager in a timely manner, including:
- Equipment issues
- Supply concerns
- Maintenance or cleaning needs
- Accurate counts of product and shortages due to culling
- Quality control information and trends
- Understand the financial goals of the department and the impact of lost product
- Know and act in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Grand Central Bakery in all parts of the job
- Work collaboratively with a team and communicate respectfully and professionally with teammates

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Working knowledge of and ability to speak and understand basic English required
- Maintain a valid Food Handler's Card at all times and follow health department guidelines
- Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled working days and being on time
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Basic math skills required
- Ability to function calmly and efficiently in high-pressure, multi-task, deadline-driven environment

Schedule
Grand Central Bakery operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Schedule flexibility and the ability to work weekends and holidays is required. This is a full-time, non-exempt role eligible for overtime.
Reports to the Delivery Assistant Manager and is accountable to the Expeditor Coordinator.
