Brand Designer
About the role
Ambrook helps American family-run businesses become more profitable and resilient by rebuilding the financial infrastructure they rely on. We replace paperwork with modern tools for accounting, banking, and spending, giving owners the data they need to prove viability to lenders and the next generation. As a member of our team, you’ll work at the intersection of American industry, climate, and the economy, shaping a brand that values craft and clarity.
You’ll share responsibility for the brand’s direction, working alongside our Creative Director to define its evolution. Your work will span form factors—from websites and campaigns to zines, newspapers, matchboxes, and sweaters—whatever it takes to make an impact. You’ll help define what a brand team looks like in the age of AI, building Claude Skills to scale your work and free up time for high-impact, hands-on craft.
You’ll report to Ali Aas, our Creative Director, and collaborate closely with Marketing, Product Design, and other cross-functional teams. Your focus will be on narrative and craft, ensuring every brand expression meets a high standard—whether you create it, direct it, or build the systems that enable others to do so.
Responsibilities
- Shape the narrative: Collaborate with project teams to uncover the story and ensure writing, imagery, and layout serve it.
- Make the abstract tangible: Create prototypes, mockups, or printed samples to help the team visualize possibilities.
- Produce brand work: Design for websites, email, editorial, merchandise, event experiences, microsites, and in-product brand moments—whatever the project demands.
- Work at scale: Decide when to create one-off work and when to build templates or Claude Skills to streamline future efforts.
- Direct external creators: Brief and evaluate work from illustrators, photographers, printers, and fabricators to ensure quality.
- Maintain brand systems: Keep Figma libraries, Sanity components, and brand documentation up-to-date and useful.
- Enable the team: Build tools, templates, and agents that allow others at Ambrook to produce work that aligns with the brand.
- Drive brand evolution: Partner with the Creative Director to mature and advance the brand through each expression.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience creating brand work at a mid-to-senior level.
- Craft-focused: You obsess over details like kerning, line breaks, whitespace, and art direction.
- Figma mastery: Proficient with auto layout, components, design systems, and tools like Figma Motion or agents to automate workflows.
- Range across physical and digital: Experience shipping print, merchandise, environmental work, web, email, and digital marketing.
- Builder mindset: You don’t just sketch—you implement work in CMS, codebases (using Claude Code or Niteshift), or collaborate with vendors on execution.
- AI experience: You’ve built with AI, not just used it. Share examples of what you’ve automated and how you reinvested the time saved.
- Exceptional project management: Organize yourself and others, set deadlines, manage vendors, and use tools like Linear without prompting.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: Take vague ideas, gather context, and propose the best path forward.
- Collaborative: Work effectively across disciplines, as brand touches every team at Ambrook.
- Bonus: Experience with motion design or tools like Figma Motion or Jitter.
