About the role

The Branch Manager develops, expands, and maintains business relationships with customers while providing oversight and accountability for branch associates. This role ensures financial performance, customer satisfaction, and adherence to branch policies and procedures, demonstrating leadership competency to produce high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop a branch team of direct reports in a retail banking branch with low to moderate complexity and risk.
  • Drive branch revenue through consumer and small business relationship development and new customer strategies.
  • Grow core deposits and loans via face-to-face customer appointments, outbound calling, and external business development calls.
  • Participate in market, civic, government, professional, business, and community affairs to prospect for new business and build the bank’s brand.
  • Ensure consistent application of the retail operating model, including defined behaviors, skills, and tools.
  • Execute the branch’s strategic plan to grow core deposits, loans, and fee income.
  • Oversee branch associate action planning, set expectations, and assess performance.
  • Maintain high employee morale to minimize turnover and maximize customer service satisfaction.
  • Promote the bank’s products and services to meet deposit and loan growth objectives.
  • Oversee the quality of consumer and business product sales and servicing.
  • Identify and submit quality referrals to internal partners (mortgage, community banking, treasury services) and vendor partners (credit card, merchant services, insurance).
  • Ensure high-quality customer service and relationship management.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences consistently.
  • Maintain safety and wellness standards.
  • Oversee branch operations effectiveness and adherence to bank and regulatory policies.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to identify areas of improvement.
  • Respond effectively to issues, errors, and complaints.
  • Apply performance and talent management processes consistently.
  • Originate consumer and small business lending for existing and new customers.
  • Assist customers in identifying appropriate lending and deposit product solutions, including loan application and closing processes.
  • Work with Retail Credit staff to review complicated transactions, structure loans, and handle exceptions.
  • Review reports related to production, HR, branch operations, and relationship management.
  • Process override approvals for transactions as needed.
  • Onboard new associates with planning, oversight, and training.
  • Coach and mentor branch associates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a financial institution or similar professional/retail services industry required.
  • Proven customer service and sales experience required.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability in a prior position required.
  • Successful account/relationship management experience required.
  • Operations experience a plus.

Physical and Mental Qualifications

  • Sitting, standing, walking, and occasional stooping.
  • Requires lifting bags and/or trays of coins and bills periodically.
  • May require working outside designated branch hours to meet business needs.
  • Travel with occasional overnight travel required.

Pay

Salary pay range: $42,647.76 - $74,195.42 annually.
