Branch HR Generalist
About this position
The Branch Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of various administrative and human resources-related tasks. This position also works with branch management to ensure that the company’s standard administrative-related procedures are adhered to and that the branch is compliant with local, state, and federal employment and labor laws. This position reports directly to the branch General Manager with an indirect reporting relationship to the Director of Human Resources.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer various HR plans and procedures for all branch personnel.
- Aid in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
- Aid with hiring, training, education, and performance management of the administrative team.
- Review and analyze daily and monthly system reports for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards. Provide a summary of findings to branch leadership that includes anomalies, trends, and deviation from company standards, as well as recommendations for resolution.
- Manage branch performance evaluation program, including reviewing corrective actions, administering Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), complying with annual performance reviews, and conducting 30, 60, and 90-day reviews with newly hired employees. Ensure that all necessary and appropriate documentation is stored in personnel files.
- Inform Corporate HR on all matters that can adversely impact the HR compliance of the branch, region, and company. Collaborate with Corporate HR on escalated issues.
- Responsible for completing and accurately submitting new hire paperwork, and termination documentation, including conducting and submitting exit interviews as well as time and attendance for all branch associates. Oversee the onboarding completion of all new-hire employees in accordance with OrePac policy and state and federal regulations.
- Perform benefits administration and communicate benefits information to employees. Oversee branch open enrollment period, including conducting an annual presentation for branch employees.
- Work collectively with corporate teams to develop and implement efficient processes and procedures. Responsible for ensuring adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Oversee coordination of outside services, drug screenings, janitorial services, etc. Purchase office supplies and track expenses to not exceed budget levels.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment, payroll, and labor laws and regulations.
- Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers. Work closely with Branch Support Manager and CI Supervisor in safety-related matters, which may include participation in investigations, development and adherence to work restrictions, and accountability measures as needed.
- Expected to attend and be an active participant in regularly scheduled HR meetings, one-on-one meetings, and staff meetings.
- Responsible for enrolling in a minimum of 2-3 continuous education courses or seminars per quarter. Completion of continuous education courses and seminars will be required to maintain certification status through SHRM and/or HRCI.
Required Skills
- English/Spanish bilingual.
- Ability to travel up to 10% per quarter.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with an intermediate-level skill set in Excel. Experience with an HRIS system strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to multi-task, respond effectively to conflicting priorities, and ensure project deadlines and deliverables are met while exercising attention to detail in all tasks.
- Able to successfully work independently with limited management oversight.
- Able to objectively coach and deliver constructive and difficult feedback to employees and management on day-to-day topics as well as complex, difficult, and/or sensitive issues.
- Able to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally related to, but not limited to, company financials, HR, and payroll.
- Must have the ability to learn and possess strong conflict-resolution skills.
- Able to research, exercise sound judgment, and effectively use decision-making skills.

- Thorough understanding of HR policies and procedures and knowledge of federal and state regulations, including EEO laws and regulations.
- Thorough understanding of risk management principles and practices to mitigate legal risk to employees and the company.
Required Education & Experience
- Distribution, manufacturing, or light industrial experience is strongly preferred.
- As a condition of employment, this individual is expected to enroll, complete, and pass an HR Certification course (SHRM/HRCI) within 12 to 18 months of hire. The cost of the pre-determined prep course and one exam will be paid for by OrePac. The individual may choose between SHRM or HRCI certification.

Physical Demands
- This role operates in a professional office and warehouse environment.
- The work environment is generally quiet but can be loud when walking through the warehouse, door shop, or pre-finish booth.
- This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
- This role may require travel to other branches or Corporate headquarters up to 10% per quarter.
