About the role
AriensCo is seeking an experienced Brake Press Technician to join our team. This role involves setting up, adjusting, and operating press brakes to perform metal fabrication operations, ensuring products meet quality and dimensional requirements.
Responsibilities
- Safe operation of all machining and tooling
- Live and promote the Ariens Core Values and 15 Principles
- Operate press brake machine
- Run, bend and forming operations using standard and custom punches
- Select correct tooling for the job task with setup documents or lead assistance
- Load, install and correctly set-up the tools required
- Use a CNC controller to input information into machine
- Adjust ram and back gauge locations per process control instructions and blueprints
- Check height, depth and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring instruments
- Perform complex programming using all features of the press brake
- Work with tight tolerances
- Produce parts for assembly operations
- Meet customer specifications and delivery requirements
- Program the CNC to produce new parts meeting specifications
- Perform spot inspections of parts
- Complete and maintain paperwork
- Identify assembly parts
- Set up light gauge metal
- Configure bend allowances for sheet metal (stainless, aluminum & regular steel)
- Check machine for defects and repair if necessary
- Ensure machine is calibrated and cleaned
- Read drawings and blueprints
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively by applying common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
- Strong metal press forming and basic fabrication background
- Basic knowledge and understanding of fabrication, hydraulic press and/or punch operations including basic set up is desired
- Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools
- Demonstrated competency in basic shop math
- Demonstrated competency in Blueprint reading
- Preferable experience with overhead crane
- Preferred understanding of welding processes and techniques
- Capable of performing multiple fabrication processes adhering to standard work
- Preferred experience with TWI
Work Environment
- Ability to stand for 8+ hours a day
- Able to lift up to 35 pounds at varying frequencies
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment
