About the role
A Bracing Machine Operator sets up, operates, and maintains specialized machinery to shape metal coils into specific profiles, ensuring production quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Install and align roller dies (tooling) on spindles, load steel/metal coils using cranes or forklifts, and adjust settings for thickness, speed, and shear.
- Run the roll-forming line, ensuring continuous material feed, proper lubrication, and accurate cut-to-length functionality.
- Perform first-off inspections, using calipers, micrometers, angle gauges, and tape measures to verify that finished products match blueprints and specs.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance (cleaning, oiling, greasing) and troubleshoot issues like jamming, roller wear, or misalignment.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols, including machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and PPE usage.
- Interpret blueprints to meet strict dimensional tolerances.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or specific roll-forming machine operation.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to read blueprints, SAP work orders, navigate MES system, and interpret technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using hand tools (wrenches), measuring instruments (calipers, gauges, tape measure, micrometer), and potentially overhead cranes.
- Capability to lift materials (often up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods.
