About the Role

Assists physicians with examinations and procedures to serve the medical needs of patients with various health conditions in a professional, confidential, and caring manner. Coordinates the flow of patients, phone calls, lab work, and nurse visits to facilitate quality patient care and customer service goals. Provides professional nursing care as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act, any applicable licensure/certification requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs, and consistently demonstrates core values.
  • Maintains flow of patients in accordance with appointment times to avoid delays for providers and undue waiting for patients.
  • Keeps exam rooms clean, disinfected, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Obtains vital signs, reason for visit, allergies, and list of medications from the patient and prepares them for the visit.
  • Assists the medical provider with all examinations and procedures.
  • Schedules outpatient follow-up procedures, appointments, and specialty appointments.
  • Collects subjective and objective data, contributes to patient assessment, and documents appropriately in the patient chart.
  • Makes accurate and timely observations and documents changes in the patient’s condition in the patient chart.
  • Retrieves messages and responds to calls from patients, pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical offices in a timely manner as delegated by licensed healthcare providers (MD, RN, PA, NP).
  • Explains tests and preparation as needed for adequate patient education.
  • Monitors inventory of supplies and communicates information to the Office Manager.
  • Administers injections, vital signs, vision, and auditory testing as delegated.
  • Leads the supply ordering process.
  • Provides and/or assists with coordination of orientation activities for new staff.
  • Conducts and/or assists with coordination of validating and revalidation of core job competencies.
  • Plans, coordinates, and leads training and re-training sessions, pulling in other resources when necessary.
  • Assists Practice Manager with the coordination, development, and revision of procedures and protocols.
  • Assists Practice Manager with time card review and approval.
  • Assists Practice Manager with staff scheduling and attendance tracking.
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Nebraska required.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals), and the Military Training Network.
