General Summary

Affords assistance to physicians during examinations and procedures to meet the healthcare needs of patients with diverse health conditions in a professional, confidential, and compassionate manner. Facilitates smooth patient flow, coordinates administrative tasks, and ensures quality patient care.

Principal Job Functions

  • Maintains patient flow according to scheduled appointments to prevent delays and reduce patient wait times.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, disinfected, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Collects vital signs, reasons for visits, allergies, and medication lists from patients prior to their examination.
  • Supports physicians during examinations and procedures, following medical guidelines and protocols.
  • Schedules follow-up procedures, appointments, and specialty visits as directed.
  • Documents patient data accurately and promptly, including subjective and objective findings, in the patient chart.
  • Makes timely observations and updates the patient's condition in the chart.
  • Handles incoming messages and calls from patients, pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical offices, responding as delegated by licensed healthcare providers.
  • Explains test preparations and procedures to patients to ensure adequate understanding and cooperation.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and reports discrepancies to the Office Manager.
  • Administers injections, vital signs, vision, and auditory tests as per delegation.
  • Participates in supply ordering processes.
  • Assists with orientation activities for new staff members.
  • Conducts and assists with validation and revalidation of core job competencies.
  • Plans, coordinates, and leads training and re-training sessions, collaborating with other resources as needed.
  • Supports the Practice Manager with procedure and protocol development, staff scheduling, and attendance tracking.
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Nebraska required.

Other Credentials / Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
