About the role

A midlevel associate with 1-5 years of patent prosecution experience in a biotechnology practice and an advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in a life sciences technology area, e.g. molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, cell biology, and the like. Illustrative subject matter concerns patent prosecution and counseling projects with emerging companies focused on antibodies, DNA or RNA therapeutics, chemical biology, gene-editing, etc. Patent bar membership (USPTO Registration Number) is required. It is required that you prepare for, take, and pass the patent bar exam either prior to you joining the firm or during your first 12 months from the date of hire.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and prosecute patent applications in the biotechnology field, particularly in areas such as antibodies, DNA or RNA therapeutics, chemical biology, gene-editing, etc. - Provide patent counseling services to clients, including freedom-to-operate analysis, due diligence, and portfolio management. - Collaborate with attorneys and other professionals to develop comprehensive intellectual property strategies for clients. - Stay updated on legal developments and industry trends relevant to patent law and biotechnology.

Requirements

- Advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D., in a life sciences technology area, e.g. molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, cell biology, and the like. - Minimum of 1-5 years of relevant experience in patent prosecution, preferably in a biotechnology practice. - Patent bar membership (USPTO Registration Number). - Ability to pass the patent bar exam within the first 12 months of employment.

Pay

- Salary range for this position is $225,000 to $435,000, with final salary determined during the interview process and varying based on multiple factors including prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
