About the Role

The BOSS Elementary POD Instructor will deliver high-quality instruction in a blended learning environment for high school students. This role combines traditional classroom teaching with online learning methodologies to enhance student engagement and academic success. The teacher will work collaboratively with other educators, support staff, and students to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging blended learning lessons that incorporate digital resources and traditional teaching methods.
  • Monitor student progress through assessments and provide timely feedback to ensure mastery of subject matter.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional materials that align with state standards and district goals.
  • Utilize data analytics to tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, fostering a personalized learning experience.
  • Support students in developing digital literacy skills and encourage responsible use of technology in their learning.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians to provide updates on progress and address any concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and stay current with educational technologies.
  • Design and implement an instructional program that aligns with the company's educational philosophy and adopted course curriculum objectives.
  • Develop intentional and effective lesson plans that incorporate diverse teaching strategies and optimize student engagement.

  • Analyze student records to gain insights into individual abilities and needs while maintaining accurate and comprehensive student documentation.
  • Integrate a variety of learning modalities into each lesson, employing differentiated instruction tailored to diverse student needs.
  • Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments to evaluate student learning and maintain accurate records.
  • Assess student strengths and weaknesses, providing targeted activities to address their needs and generating required progress reports.
  • Refer students with potential learning challenges to appropriate support services; assign and evaluate lessons and student presentations.
  • Organize class field trips as necessary and prepare students for state-mandated achievement assessments.
  • Remain informed about subject matter and educational theories, sharing insights to improve the school's curriculum continuously.
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum development, including revising course materials and selecting instructional resources.
  • Familiarize oneself with supplemental services that enhance student learning beyond regular classroom activities.
  • Establish a virtual classroom environment that fosters learning and is suited to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience and support to facilitate their growth.
  • Ensure the virtual classroom is organized, safe, and showcases student work appropriately.
  • Enforce relevant policies regarding student behavior and develop clear, reasonable rules for virtual classroom conduct.
  • Develop lesson plans that align with established educational guidelines and goals.
  • Design individual and group learning activities that cater to instructional objectives and student needs using appropriate technologies.
  • Prepare thoroughly for assigned classes and provide evidence of preparation upon request from supervisory personnel.
  • Collaborate with colleagues during designated curriculum planning meetings.
  • Integrate diagnostic information from each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) into lesson planning.
  • Take necessary precautions to safeguard supplies, equipment, and materials essential for effective instructional delivery.
  • Cultivate cooperative relationships and communicate effectively with parents/guardians when needed.
  • Maintain clear, consistent, and positive communication with parents using appropriate channels.
  • Collaborate with administration and fellow staff members.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding student records and engage in parent communication initiatives.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities to promote a positive school culture and support both students and staff as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in the subject area and grade level.
  • Experience with blended learning models and instructional technology.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood and elementary school curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Previous experience in virtual teaching or online education environments is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various educational technologies, including learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing tools, and online assessment platforms.
  • Strong ability to build rapport with students and create an inclusive and supportive virtual learning environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple classes, track student progress, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational best practices and technology advancements.

  • Virtual Classroom Management:
    • Set clear expectations by defining rules and procedures for behavior and participation in the virtual classroom.
    • Engage students actively using interactive activities, discussions, and multimedia resources such as polls, quizzes, and breakout rooms.
    • Establish a routine with a consistent schedule for classes to build stability and encourage regular attendance.
    • Utilize technology effectively by familiarizing yourself with LMS tools like chat, screen sharing, and virtual whiteboards.

    • Encourage open dialogue by inviting parents to share their insights and feedback.
    • Provide resources and tools that parents can use to support their children's learning at home, such as guides on using the LMS or educational websites.
  • Tools to Enhance Virtual Learning:
    • Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Google Classroom, Canvas, or Schoology for organizing materials and assignments.
    • Interactive whiteboards such as Jamboard or Miro for collaborative brainstorming and visual learning.
    • Video conferencing tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Webex for live interaction and virtual meetings.
    • Assessment platforms like Kahoot!, Quizizz, or Nearpod for creating engaging quizzes and assessments.

Work Environment

This position will be performed in a POD location site setting, incorporating both in-person and online instruction. The BOSS High School POD Instructors will collaborate with a team of educators and work closely with students in a supportive and innovative learning environment.

Physical Demands

A BOSS HS POD Instructor working at a POD site daily faces physical demands that combine traditional teaching responsibilities with the requirements of online instruction. This includes using computer-based technologies for extended periods of time, as well as standing, sitting, and walking.

This job is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
