About The Role

The Boring Rig Foreman oversees and executes the construction and installation of all boring projects, ensuring completion in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. This role involves applying company policies, training crew members, and managing daily activities and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand technical information, manuals, policies, procedures, work orders, blueprints, spec books, system maps, and diagrams.
  • Manage emergency situations, hazardous conditions, multiple priorities, frequent interruptions, and time constraints.
  • Operate HDD locating equipment and interpret basic prints and drawings.
  • Apply knowledge of HDD practices and adjust field installations as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong equipment operating skills and knowledge of HDD drilling fluid products, including proper mixing procedures.
  • Complete documentation and assist with Job Hazard Analysis pre-job and post-job meetings.

Work Environment

This role operates in a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites, including exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and outdoor elements.

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds over distances of at least 20 feet on a regular basis.
  • Walk over uneven, steep, or difficult terrain for distances up to a quarter mile regularly.
  • Perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Use abdominal and lower back muscles to support lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects over time without fatigue.
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity, multi-limb coordination, and the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
  • Possess excellent stamina, long-distance hearing, long-distance vision, color differentiation, and depth perception.

Schedule

This is a full-time position that frequently requires long hours and weekend work. The role may require travel for storm recovery or emergency utility repair, with the length of stay dependent on work volume.

Travel

The position primarily works at customer premises during the workweek, which may require weekly overnight travel. Out-of-area and extended travel may be required based on customer demand.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a boring crew foreman.
  • Valid CDL-A license with a clear driving record.

Qualifications

  • Planning and organizational skills to schedule crews, assign duties, and meet project deadlines.
  • Good mathematical skills for calculating figures and amounts.
  • Ability to manage emergency situations, hazardous conditions, and time constraints.
  • Strong communication skills to relay expectations and company goals to crew members.
  • Leadership skills to provide guidance and training to personnel in a safe and effective manner.
  • Proficiency in understanding and using the English language (oral and written) to communicate instructions and information.

Nice-To-Haves

  • 2+ years of experience as a boring crew foreman.
  • Technical training on the use of HDD drilling fluid products.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $34–$39 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
