About the role
You will take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations, driving accuracy in full-cycle construction accounting under the guidance of the Financial Controller. This role allows you to play a vital part in maintaining profitability through meticulous project cost tracking. You will have a direct impact on organizational efficiency by keeping financial records precise and compliant.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Track and allocate complex project costs across labor, materials, and subcontractors for accurate job costing.
- Prepare detailed AIA progress billings and supporting documentation for review and approval.
- Maintain comprehensive subcontractor documentation including W-9 forms, insurance certificates, and indemnification agreements.
- Process company payroll accurately while assisting with new employee onboarding and benefits coordination.
- Perform routine bank and credit card reconciliations to support real-time cash flow tracking.
- Provide critical documentation and organizational support for insurance audits and tax preparation.
Requirements
- 5 years of dedicated bookkeeping experience specifically within a construction company environment.
- Strong technical proficiency in full-cycle accounting, project accounting, and general ledger operations.
- Past experience accurately handling accounts payable, credit card coding, and vendor reconciliations.
- Practical knowledge of managing compliance documentation such as subcontractor insurance certificates.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Advanced proficiency using specialized construction accounting software, preferably Sage 100 Contractor.
- Demonstrated experience assisting with construction insurance audits and worker benefits management.
