Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper with strong reconciliation expertise to manage day-to-day accounting activities and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of bank, credit card, loan, payment processor, and general ledger accounts.
- Research and resolve discrepancies between accounting records, bank statements, subledgers, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
- Record and categorize financial transactions, including deposits, payments, expenses, and journal entries.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable balances and investigate outstanding items.
- Review transactions for accuracy, completeness, proper coding, and appropriate supporting documentation.
- Identify unusual or inconsistent transactions and communicate issues to management.
- Prepare month-end reconciliation schedules and assist with the month-end close process.
- Maintain organized documentation and audit trails for reconciliations and accounting transactions.
- Assist with financial reporting and provide accurate account balances and supporting information as needed.
- Monitor aged and unreconciled items and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
- Assist with process improvements to increase accounting accuracy and efficiency.
- Work closely with management, vendors, customers, and other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, with significant hands-on reconciliation experience.
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger accounting.
- Proven ability to reconcile high-volume accounts and identify discrepancies.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting/filtering, and data analysis.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with month-end close procedures preferred.
